Generative artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to change the way students learn, and teachers teach, especially in K-12 grades. Students will now need to learn how to effectively use the tools at their disposal in a productive way in both their home and school lives.
This project will introduce a curriculum that involves new methods in preparing pre-service teachers to understand the fundamentals of generative AI, and to ascertain when and how to apply these principles in their teaching in the classroom.
The result will be research findings and open-source curriculum materials that will be widely disseminated for other teacher educators to use and adapt.
